About the event
Murray Symphony invites two extremely talented teenagers from the valley to perform with them at their next concert, titled "España!" Violinist Tyler Burrup and guitarist Elliot Mitchell will each perform a movement from a concerto with the symphony. In addition, audiences will hear colorful and exotic pieces by Emmanuel Chabrier, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, James Horner, and George Bizet which evoke the sights and sounds of beautiful Spain. Let the castanets sound and the trumpets soar--it's España!
Elliot Mitchell has been playing guitar since the age of 6 when his Papa gifted him a guitar for his birthday. He is a sophomore and honor roll student at Itineris Early College High School. Elliot has soloed with Kensington Symphony and was the winner of Daybreak’s Got Talent 2024 with his rendition of Tommy Emmanuel’s “Guitar Boogie.” He is currently the guitarist for two bands with Caleb Chapman’s Soundhouse. He recently returned from playing at the Jazz Educators Conference in Atlanta and is looking forward to playing at Lincoln Center in NYC this summer. He is pleased to be playing with the Murray Symphony and is grateful to Michelle Willis for the opportunity and for her consistent support and encouragement.
Tyler Burrup is an 18 year-old pianist and violinist from Herriman, Utah. He is currently a senior at Mountain Ridge High School. Tyler has played the violin for the last 10 years, and currently studies with Michelle Willis. He has also played the piano for 12 years, and currently studies with Gretchen Tanner of the University of Utah. Over the years, Tyler has played in and performed with many different orchestras, including the Utah Youth Philharmonic, the Utah High School All-State Orchestra, the Herriman Community Orchestra, and many more. In March of 2023, he performed the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Kensington Symphony Orchestra. He also performed the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Mountain Ridge High School Chamber Orchestra in May of 2024. Tyler has won, participated, and placed in several piano competitions. Tyler hopes to make music his career in the future and plans to study piano performance in college after he graduates.
